Today, the Bourbon Orleans Hotel is a luxury hotel that retains its historic charm and is known for its elegant architecture and prime location in the French Quarter.

Haunted History

The Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans is known for its haunted history, with numerous stories and legends surrounding the paranormal activity within its historic walls. One of the most famous spirits is often referred to as “The Dancer.” It is believed that she was a beautiful young woman who frequented the hotel when it was a ballroom in the 19th century.

Guests and staff have reported seeing her in a red dress, gracefully waltzing through the ballroom, and some have even claimed to have danced with her before she mysteriously vanishes.Another presence is said to be a Confederate soldier, a reminder of the building’s use as a military hospital during the Civil War. Guests have reported seeing him on the hotel’s sixth floor, sometimes accompanied by the sound of footsteps or the tapping of a cane.

There have also been reports of unexplained whispers, laughter, and doors opening and closing on their own.
